Mikey Comes Home

Mikey Comes Home

  1. It was Toby who held the key to it all, Mikey thought. Quite literally the key to the wooden casket. That was all Mikey knew. The casket was buried somewhere inside the Dog and Duck-aka the bistro. Back in the good old days Mikey would have jimmied a window open and been inside. He didn't know if he'd find what he was searching for, but just having a go would feel good. Much better than standing outside braving the elements minus shirt. He blamed that men's group. Dodger Deacon made him go to it. It'd be a laugh, he said. But he hadn't reckoned on Dodger getting taken in by the whole commune-with-nature thing. Mikey shivered as he remembered something. He'd been sitting here for half an hour and he'd forgotten the bus only ran on market days. That was Tuesday. This was Wednesday. He was in for a long walk or a long wait.
