Love the colours on this- they remind me of the Feathered Friends painting which was equally vibrant- magical feel with the pink houses and the gently curving hills make a restful scene suited to the subject matter- (a Freudian critic could give an interesting slant to the scenery- it reminds one of some of Thomas Hardy's wonderful descriptions- or maybe this viewer has been reading too much literary theory!) I think the relationship between the dogs and the humans also provide an interesting mirror to each other.
