Ah, now, this is interesting. Thinking about the Wuthering Heights theme you could associate with One Tree, this viewer is wondering whether this is the same hill-and if so, does this mean that one of the trees has disappeared-maybe struck by lightening (on a different Bronte theme, like the great chestnut tree in Thornifield's grounds). If this was the case then this pair of paintings could speak volumes about parting and loneliness. Very open to interpretation of course but that is what makes these paintings so interesting.
